Gitura Coffee Factory is located in Muranga County, and is affliated with the Iyego Farmers Co-operative Society. The washing station was established in 1980 and rests on a six-acre piece of land serving Gaite, Miakini, Giti and Mahuga villages, with about 700 members contributing cherry. During harvest, coffee is de-pulped and fermented overnight, before being transported to drying tables, where the parchment is turned frequently and sorted.
