Gititu Coffee Factory is located in Kiambu County, near the town of Gitunduri, and is operated by the Gititu Farmer’s Cooperative Society, one of the largest groups producing coffee in Kenya, serving over 5000 member farmers and operating eight washing stations in total. About 1000 smallholder farmers deliver cherry to Gititu’s washing station, where a traditional washed process and raised bed drying takes place. Varieties grown are the typical ones found in Kenya: mostly SL-28 and SL-34, with some Ruiru and Batian mixed in.
